FAQs

  • Watersedge no longer provides couples therapy or family therapy.

  • An individual session is 50-55 minutes in length. 90 minute individual sessions can be provided upon request. TRTP sessions run for two hours per session.

  • We require 24 hours notice of any cancellation, and our standard session fees are expected for the reservation of our time. Rescheduling an appointment is also regarded as a cancellation. We do not extend time if people are late for their appointment.

  • In the initial session your counsellor will work with you to gain a full understanding of your needs and provide a thorough and comprehensive assessment. You will experience how your counsellor operates and have a strong sense of how you can work together.

  • Length of therapy is determined by your own unique needs and at what stage of readiness for change you are at. Many clients have between 6 and 10 sessions and find that this is enough to move to the next level of personal development.

Sometimes clients prefer a longer term of engagement, anywhere between 10 and 20 sessions, in order to consolidate change. This is your personal preference and can be discussed with us at any time during our engagement.

  • Counselling is most effective when those involved are committed and motivated to do challenging personal work and change a situation. If you come to counselling with the attitude that you are making a positive investment into your personal growth and well being and/or the growth and well being of your most significant relationship/s, you will most certainly have a positive outcome.

In cases where a child or teens are being seen, the long-term positive effects will also depend on the commitment of the family unit as they grow and heal together.
